Keith Thraen-Borowski, PhD.

Keith is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Kinesiology & Biology at Loras College. He holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a specialization in Physical Activity Epidemiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has completed fellowships in CancerEpidemiology (University of Wisconsin-Madison) & Supportive Oncology (Massachusetts General Hospital). He is also the Director of the Loras Cancer Research & Exercise Science Laboratory (CARES Lab), where his research agenda focuses globally on the role of physical activity and sedentary behavior on health outcomes specific to cancer survivorship. Specifically, Dr. Thraen-Borowski evaluates the feasibility of physical activity and sedentary behavior interventions in survivors of various types of cancer, as well as the effectiveness of these interventions to improve quality of life and prognostic indicators, in community settings.

Sarah Weller, BAppSci(HMS), CSEP-CEP.

Sarah is a Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) with 13+ years experience specializing in workingwith people who have a cancer diagnosis, before, during and after cancer treatments. She is the director of the cancer recovery exercise program at Treloar Physio in Vancouver and the clinical exercise lead for the Prostate Cancer Supportive Care (PCSC) program across British Columbia. In addition to her clinical work, Sarah is also completing her MSc in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Dr. Kristin Campbell in the area of cancer and exercise. Sarah is passionate about using evidence-informed exercise as medicine, translating research into clinical practice and building the capacity of exercise physiologists in oncology. She plans to use her research and clinical practice improve oncology-specific supportive care and to enhance the lives of those living with cancer.

Ciaran Fairman, PhD, CSCS, ACSM CET, EP-C

CF
Ciaran is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the Exercise Medicine Research Institute (EMRI) situated within the School of Medical and Health Science (SMHS) at Edith Cowan University. His research focuses on the investigation of exercise and nutritional therapies on clinically relevant outcomes in various cancer populations. Ciaran is also a strong advocate for the dissemination/translation of scientific research to a variety of audiences. He is the founder, and chief exercise physiologist at REACH (Research in Exercise and Cancer Health), a company designed to provide evidence-based guidelines of physical activity to health/medical professionals and individuals with cancer.
